MA in Literacy and Early Childhood
In 1998 I married my college sweetheart. We both grew up in Northwest Tucson and attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. I obtained a degree in Elementary Education in 1997, and mastered in Early Childhood and Reading in 2004. I taught at a school in Tucson from 1998 right up until my son was born in 2006. During the course of those years, I spent time teaching grades K-3. I find first grade and literacy to be one of my absolute favorite primary grades & subjects to teach. In spring 2008, my husband and I left the Arizona heat and moved to Denver. I took a group leader position at Peachtree Academy Preschool. I taught Pre-K in the mornings and a private kindergarten class in the afternoons. After a few years in the preschool setting I accepted a job offer in administration for Colorado Virtual Academy, an Adams 12 online Charter School. I was COVA's Assessment Coordinator and oversaw all testing logistics for grades K-12. I soon realized logistics and data wasn't half as exciting as being in the classroom. I quickly sought out The Academy and found my way back into the classroom in 2011. I couldn't be happier!
